The first three DVDs in this series are designed to illustrate and demonstrate each of the exercises and dialogues presented in A Basic Course in American Sign Language. Four Deaf teachers and three hearing students provide a variety of models for the exercises.
The fourth DVD in this series presents spontaneous, unrehearsed conversations among four Deaf adults. It offers excellent practice in reading signs in conversation. Topics include Mischievous Behavior, Travel Experiences, Deaf Clubs, Name Signs, etc. All DVDs include voice. The quality of this video is poor. They are blurry (out of focus). The product description says the DVDs are not returnable once opened.

The material covered is good, the quality of the videos is poor as the dvd's were made from VHS tapes...I think for the quality the DVD's are overpriced..
doesn't follow the lesson plan of the book

the tapes are descent however, they move too quickly and they fail to show a vocabulary section. If I didn't have the book I would be lost. They should revamp the lesson to include a vocabulary section in each lesson section.
Not worth the price...visual quality not very good.

These discs are made from video tapes!!!! The visual quality is not the best. I believe the discs are WAY OVERPRICED!!

I have been studying the book, but, the arrows are not always understandable. Seeing the people using the signs is very helpful. I am trying to learn because I started a new manager job where one of my people is deaf and I really want to communicate with him. The disappointing part of these videos is that they do not show ALL the signs in the book. I also wish there was a downloadable version that I could have on my Ipad to bring with me.

I was disappointed when I first pulled these out and previewed them. I wouldn't show these to my class very often if at all, but I DO find them helpful in showing ME ways to reinforce the vocabulary with my class. These are apparently video taped in the 80's, so my students would get more caught up in out of date clothing and hair than in watching the video. Also, the video isn't high quality. However the method of interaction, proper use of hand positions, placement, and ways of constructing sentences were helpful for me to watch in advance of teaching the lessons.

Very disappointed with the quality of the DVD's. I paid good money for something non-refundable. Very sad and will not recommend them to others. I do feel the lessons would be good if the quality was improved.
